Observations: I have observed this week that field trip day is very busy. You have to make sure the student bought the right thing and if any one of the student has not turn in the form. I also learned that students hate when people leave them when they have seen you more often at their school.

Learning experience: I had to learn that leave students or watching them leave you is very hard. When you have the student for a complete year it is heartbreaking to watch them go. It was really hard for me and the students to watch me leave on the last day of field experience.

Reflection: When I told the students that I was leaving they said that they will be the saddest kids in the whole entire world. I felt so sad when I heard them say that.

Stories to Share: It was hard for the students to watch me leave and it was hard for me to go. Before I left they told me to come back on their field day so I can play with them. It went really fast that I didn’t see it was coming to an end. Now I understand why teachers get really upset when their students leave.

Observations: I have observed that teaching for the first time is really nerve wrecking even if they are second graders. Kids love having the opportunity to answer questions and telling you what words mean. They really excited that I was going to teach them because some of them thought that I was just there to graded papers, filed papers, and helping out with reading and words.

Learning experience: It is hard to get students to pay attention to you when you are trying to teach. Some of them love to talk out loud with raising their hands. I have to tell them that it was a bit rude to talk over someone. They also love to talk you thing that you have missed to do.

Reflection: This week, I only went on Thursday because on Tuesday, I had to go to a college visit to USC school of Medicine. I had so much fun. On Thursday, I had to teach my class about Earth Day, I was really nervous. It was a very quick lesson, I think I did okay.

Stories to Share: One of my student (Damon) told me that I forgot to really the wonder word. That was really funny, I started to laugh. I got hugged by some of the students and they were excited to see me for such a long time. I had so much on Thursday. I am so sad that next week is our last day of field experience, but I am excited that we got the opportunity to do this.

Observations: I have observed that it takes awhile for the students to get use to having a week break and then coming back to school. They were so tired and they were having hard time paying attention to the teacher and me. I know how they feel, I felt the same way when I went back to school, too.

Learning experience: We had to give the students some new sits. That was the hardest thing to do because they kept talking and some of them didn’t like it. But they accepted very quickly and they went on with their reading. I was very surprised that they accepted it so quickly; I know that it is not going to be easy when you are in other classroom with another group of kids.

Reflection: When I came back to field experience, the two girls were really excited to see me that they gave me a hug. I was so excited to see t them. You will think that you will not miss them but you really do even though, it is really not your class but also it is.

Stories to Share: Ms. Jeffries told me that I will be seeing Austin at the Special Olympics on Friday. She told me that he has a brother who was special but I don’t remember what he had. I understand how Austin feels have a sibling who you have to be careful with but a good thing comes out it, you are more aware of people’s feelings.

I will be teaching my class on Earth Day about Earth Day. I am very nervous but I think I can do it. Everyone wish me lucky.

Observations: I have observed that sugar and children do not mix. They had a mini party on friday which was very fun and they got to dress up as characters of a fairy tale. They were so hyper and they couldn’t even stay still long enough to teach anything. I observed how children behave when in a full day of experience. Now I understand how tired my teacher get everyday.

Learning experience: I learned that elementary students love having people in their classroom. They are so excited that they try to make them laugh. I learned that children behave differently when we come an observe them when it is a full day. Sugar can make a child very hyper even if it is just a little bit of it. They are so cute.

Reflection: I went to field experience on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. I did my full experience on friday which was so much fun. I got to see the different costumes that the second graders were wearing for their spring party. They were so adorable.

Stories to Share: The students were so excited to see me and that I was standing all day with them. They were fighting over me when it came to recess, they all wanted me to play with them. They even fought over me when they came to lunch, they all wanted me to eat lunch with them. They were all excited, I felt like I was loved by every child. One kid ask me what was my first name and my middle name. When I told him my middle name, he surprised because it was spanish. He told me, “I can’t even pronounce that or even spelled it.” I just started laughing because it was really funny how he said it. I had so much fun and I was so excited that I did it. I loved it so much but I was so tired when I was done.

Observations: This week was really interesting and very fun. I have observed that silly bands are used as rewards for the students improvement in school but it can be a distractions. One child in my second grade class try to steal silly bands for a teacher because he didn’t get a silly band. But this was his second time lying about stealing something or about to steal something. When you look at him, you won’t have thought that he would do that because he was so nice. He got a half day in-school suspension. This making me sad to see this in my classroom.

Learning Experiences: I learned that one of my students has ADD and also my teacher. I thought that student had ADD by observing him in class but I can’t tell that my teacher had it, too. My students are the student treasures the little things in life because they don’t get in so often in home like going to the zoo, have about half the class that have never been to the zoo. I love my class and they have incredible improvement in school. I can tell from the grades, I have seen from kindergarten to now. I am proud of my students because they are true strong students.

Reflections: I went to field experience on monday and Wednesday. I got a lot of little notes from students and I can see how happy the students get when I come and see them. On Wednesday, we saw a third grade play that was about get in the game. It was so cute.

Stories to Share: I had so much hugs since the day I first came to the school. They love to write little notes to me, telling me how wonderful I am. I am loving being there more and more. They are so sweet. I felt so bad that I didn’t go on Friday but I will be there this friday so I am very excited for that.

Observations: I observed how confusing it can get when the day is early dismissal and the kids are still doing Map testing. Mrs. Jeffries was not feeling really good and she told me that it was going to be a busy day but I told it was a very calm day. The kids were all nice for Mrs. Jeffries cause she was sick and they were all excited for friday because it was Mrs. Jeffries’ birthday. The kids get really excited about birthdays and they can’t wait to sing for them.

Learning experiences: I learned that students love to hug everyone especially the second graders. I got hugged by everyone when I got in. I printed a paper for the students to fill out so I can learn something about them. They get a little funny doing them, they ask a lot of wierd and funny questions that will make me laugh. I love them so much. I also learned that Mrs. Jeffries was so proud of her kids because they raised their Map scores about 30-50 points. This excited her because she had these kids for three years and it gave her the chance to see them process.

Reflections: On monday, we didn’t go to field experiences because the schools were doing Pass testing which was upsetting. We got our shirts that we need to sell to get money to do the hero banquet in May. I am really excited, I already sold one. We shared stories of our experiences. On thursday, we went to field experience, most of the elementary schools had early dismissal. So classes were a little bit short, so when it was time for me to leave they were getting their lunch.

Stories to Share: On thursday, I got two notes that were from Sam (girl) saying that i was her friend and she is glad that I gave her happiness. I felt really special and I gave her a hug. Colby was so excited that to make his book that he wanted me to read it. I was so proud of myself that he will wanted me to me to be the first one to read his stories. When I went to work on friday and saturday which is at the movie theatre, I saw two of my students there. They were so excited to see me that they both gave me hugs. I love that feeling of excitement when i see them.

Observations: This was a great and interesting week. I observed some kids like to pull teacher’s button when it comes to talking in class. Ms. Jeffries will as be calm when Brett talks but he is the kind on kid that keeps talking until you get mad and then stops when you reach that level of madness. But I realize that he does this just to get attention in school because he doesn’t get at home. Ms. Jeffries told me a little story about he asking his mom to teach him how to tie his shoes. He was so excited that he told Ms. Jeffries but then he started thinking he tought that his mom was going to teach him in the summer or even next year. All the kids are well-behavior is just the talking that gets them in trouble a lot.

Learning experiences: This week we learned that stealing is bad and you can get nothing good out of it. I read them a book that talked about lying and taking something that is not theirs. It was a very intense class because before I had read the book to the class, some one in the classroom stole something that was not their and lied about it. I was a bit upset with the class because they seem so sweet and looked like they wouldn’t do something like that.

Reflections: We had a lot of fun and time went really fast. I read to the student.s I did work with them to show them that I am here to help out. I took to the library and bought them back by myself that was really exciting. I ate breakfast with my brother everyday was there. I am having a great time there.

Stories to Share: On Wednesday, it was not a very good day because some one in the classroom stole the rubber bands that everyone haves that are colorful and different shapes. But Ms. Jeffries gave everyone a posted note and they had to write “yes” and “no” if they have stolen it. Everyone had put “no” and the teacher was upset. But the student had the chance to tell the truth before recess was over. When I came back on Friday, it was boy (Tylae) who stole it and he got a half-day out of school. It was a very intense class but the students try to raise the mood.

Observation: My teacher, Ms. Jeffries teaches second grades. We I walked in she was very excited to see me. She looked like she know her students very well. She told me that she had most of the students her class for three years except for three other students were new. Her class had a total of 19 kids-7 girls and 12 boys. In the beginning of the class, they would have independent reading while about 5 or 7 kids go to a teacher to help them reading and understand what they read. All the students are well-behave but instead of one who just loves to talk but denies that he was the one talking and pretends he didn’t do anything. They are a cute bunch and the teacher is sweet as well.

Learning experiences: I have not yet have tought anything yet since this is only my first week. I learned from my teacher is that most of her kids need a lot of help with many things. She has a chart that has every name who leaves her classroom every hour or minutes to get help with reading, math, ESOL, resources, etc. I see a little of barriers in this class. Ms. Jeffries said that most of these students will not be in the same class next year for many reasons but I don’t know right now.

Reflections: The first day of field experience, I introduce myself to the students and then they introduce themselves. I don’t remember all of them but I will get the hand of it. The first day was picture day which was the best day because all the students were dressed up so nice. They were so cute. The second day of field experience, it was crazy sock day. I wrote them a daily message for them to read and I graded some papers. We had a fire and hurricane drill that morning so that took most of the time of the experience.

Stories to Share: On the second day of field experience which was the fire and hurricane drill, there was some kindergartener on the second grade hall. We were doing the hurricane drill at the time and the kindergartener were running around and trying to do the drill right but they couldn’t sit still. They were so cute. When we went back into the classroom, one of the girls (Rachel) gave me a hug just to be friendly. Then one of the girls (Stephanie) ask me how old I was and then ask me if I was in high school. I told her that I was 18 years old and that I was on my last year on high school. She was a bit upset about that. The class is bit interesting, can’t wait until next week.
